Job Skills Training
JVS offers training programs for pharmacy technicians, home health aides, and apartment maintenance technicians.
Career Services
Many people begin in our Career Services department working with career specialists to plot out a plan for the future.
Refugee Services
Our multilingual staff helps refugees gain stability in their new homeland and learn English.
Disability Services
We offer individualized assistance to adults with disabilities to enable them to fulfill their potential, contribute to society and be successful in the workplace.
GED Exam Preparation
Our classes help you earn your high school graduate equivalency diploma.
English as a Second Language
JVS offers three levels of classes to help foreign-born people learn English.
Citizenship Classes
We help Lawful Permanent Residents prepare to take the Citizenship exam and interview.
Student Loans and Grants
Through our Perlmutter Student Loan and Shapiro Grant program, JVS helps Jewish students pay for post-high school education.
SNAP
Through a partnership with NJ, JVS can offer SNAP recipients assistance with training programs. When you apply for services, let us know if you receive SNAP benefits.

Times: Every Saturday, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
The classes are conducted in English by JVS instructors.
Students will have the chance to practice the 100 civics questions and participate in mock interviews. Classes include English instruction, American history, Civics, and the N400 application.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Legal Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) who want to prepare for the United States Citizenship Exam.
COST:
There is no cost to attend, but you must have a Green Card to enroll in class. Registration is required, and spaces are limited.

Over the weekend, JVS staff hosted a table at Essex County’s Back-to-School Open House event in East Orange. Co-sponsored by the Board of County Commissioners, the Department of Citizen Services, and ARJ Civic, the annual event provides local families with information about available services and programs for the upcoming school year.
JVS staff members from various departments – Career Services, Disability Services, etc. – spoke with attendees about our range of service offerings, and how they may assist families during the school year and beyond. Over 700 people attended the event and received free food items and school supplies.

NEW CAREER OPPORTUNITY | Certified Nursing Assistant | Training Program Starts Soon | East Orange, NJ
Are you ready to take the next step toward a rewarding healthcare career, or know someone who is?
Our newest job training program for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) is set to begin in August 2025.
The program will prepare you to work with patients in hospitals, assisted living facilities, acute and subacute care facilities, and other healthcare settings.
Students will receive 130 instructional hours, 25 hours of life and career skills, and clinical experience at a healthcare facility.

Elisa’s Bio
Elisa Udaskin serves as the Director of Employer Engagement at JVS of MetroWest. In her role, Elisa focuses on building and strengthening strategic partnerships with employers to expand JVS’s workforce training programs. She collaborates with employers, community organizations, and stakeholders to improve employment possibilities and expand opportunities for JVS clients. Previously, she was a Career Specialist at JVS.
Elisa has an extensive background in strategy, marketing, business management, and partnership roles, having spent 20 years at Mondelez (Kraft Foods, Nabisco, and Cadbury). She is the author of the book, “Be a Mensch: Unleash Your Power to be Kind and Help Others.” Elisa holds both an MBA and an MA in International Development.
